When brakes are applied, the vehicle pulls left or right, as if the braking effort is different between the left and right wheels. Brake drag, when the vehicle feels like it is not rolling freely.
Squeaking from one of the wheels while driving often the noise changes or stops when brakes are applied. Leaking brake fluid from the wheel area. What are the symptoms of a bad brake caliper? A failed or sticking brake caliper must be replaced.
In general, car manufacturers recommend having the brake inspection done at least once a year consult your vehicle's Owners's Manual for details.ĭuring brake inspection, mechanics check brake calipers for leaks, seized guide pins, sticking brake pads, broken caliper piston boots, sticking caliper pistons, etc. A simple oil change service does not typically include a brake inspection. Brake calipers are checked during major services that include brake inspection. A faulty brake caliper is a safety concern.
